چکیده

High strength, toughness, and conductivity are among the most sought-after properties of flexible electronics. However, existing engineering materials find it difficult to achieve both excellent mechanical high conductivity. To address this challenge, study proposes a facile yet versatile strategy for preparing super-tough conductive organo-hydrogels via freeze-casting assisted solution substitution (FASS). This FASS enables formation in one step with exquisite hierarchical anisotropic structures coupled synergistic strengthening toughening effects across multiple length scales. As an exemplary material, prepared polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) organo-hydrogel solvent content up 87 wt% exhibits combination strength (6.5 MPa), stretchability (1710% strain), ultra-high toughness (58.9 MJ m−3), as well ionic 6.5 S m−1 strain sensitivity. The exceptional makes PVA promising electronics material. In addition, can also endow hydrogels multi-functions, including thermo-healability, freezing tolerance shape recoverability, be applied various hydrogel materials, such carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium alginate, chitosan. Hence, work provides all-around advanced strong tough soft multitude applications.

Electrically conductive, tough hydrogels with pH sensitivity

Electrically conductive, mechanically tough hydrogels based on a double network (DN) comprised of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PPEGMA) and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) were produced. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) was chemically polymerized within the tough DN gel to provide electronic conductivity. The effects of pH on the tensile and compressive mechanical properties...

Use of Synergistic Interactions to Fabricate Strong, Tough, and Conductive Artificial Nacre Based on Graphene Oxide and Chitosan.

Graphene is the strongest and stiffest material, leading to the development of promising applications in many fields. However, the assembly of graphene nanosheets into macrosized nanocomposites for practical applications remains a challenge. Nacre in its natural form sets the "gold standard" for toughness and strength, which serves as a guide to the assembly of graphene nanosheets into high-per...

Strong tough gels for 3D tissue constructs

The mechanical characteristics of ionic-covalent entanglement hydrogels consisting of combinations of the biopolymers gellan gum and kappa-carrageenan, and the synthetic polymers polyacrylamide and an epoxy amine were investigated. Compression testing showed that these gels exhibited "double network" behavior, i.e. strong tough gels.

Tough and strong bioinspired nanocomposites with interfacial cross-links.

Strength and toughness are two mechanical properties that are generally mutually exclusive but highly sought-after in the design of advanced composite materials. There has only been limited progress in achieving both high strength and toughness in composite materials. However, the fundamental underlying mechanics remain largely unexplored, especially at the nanoscale. Inspired by the lamellar s...
